The cooking ring has three tabs folded at 90° which protrude up from the body a bit. When cooking, a pot or pan rests on top of the tabs allowing for plenty of airflow and heat to circulate underneath. The double-wall construction prevents heat from scorching the area of ground under the Campfire, but be aware that the outer walls do get very hot during use. My Solo Stove Bonfire 2.0 delivers on its promise of a nearly smokeless fire, providing a more pleasant and comfortable outdoor experience—perfect if you despise the odor of smokey hair and clothes. Many people also use it when their fire is out, but still warm, so that nothing accidentally falls into the potentially still hot embers. While the Solo Stove company doesn’t sell one, I’ve heard that this lid is a perfect fit for t he bonfire if you remove the top ring. The set we got came with the stand – this is the piece of metal that the firepit can be set down on to reduce damage to the ground underneath, and I’d say it’s something you should definitely buy with it if you plan on taking it camping. I’ll be honest, the Campfire is not for everyone. But don’t worry, I’ll help you figure out if it’s for you. In this 5-minute read I’ll go over: Ash Pan – The ash pan serves a dual purpose. First it catches loose ash as it falls from the base plate above. This keeps the ash out of the way of the crucial air flow. Secondly, the ash pan is a barrier between the burning fire and the bottom of the solo stove so that heat does not scorch the ground underneath it.Burn Chamber – This is the main body of the Solo Stove. If you're like me and you start looking at the accessories and can't make a choice between which one you want most, just get them all! They're pretty useful and you do save money compared to buying them separate! The rest of the air gets pulled through the double-walled design and gets shot out towards the top.In my experience, it takes perseverance to get a good fire going, and lighter fluid is usually a godsend. It didn’t take too long for the flames to die down, but it was a while before the heat of the coals at the bottom of the Campfire cooled. If we wanted to cook again later, it would’ve been easy to just drop some fresh fuel onto the coals and get the fire going again. Another testament to the great design and usefulness of the Campfire in the field.
